La Leche League groups in San Diego and Imperial Counties offer a series of monthly meetings. Our meetings are in a discussion format (it is not a lecture or a class). Parents are encouraged to use their own experience to help and support each other. We feel that all parents who have experience feeding their children human milk have something to offer. Leaders are there to clarify information and facilitate the discussions. You will hear what others are experiencing, how they have solved past problems, what helped, and what did not. We encourage attendance during pregnancy to ask questions and see what a parent/child nursing relationship looks like. A unique aspect of La Leche League is that our meetings are on-going -- as opposed to a one-time class -- so they are a great way to meet other families and find support. Information helps, but support is proven to be one of the biggest factors for success meeting your goals.
Each series of meetings includes the following topics:

#2 The Baby Arrives: At Home with Your New Baby
#3 Overcoming Difficulties
#4 Nutrition (for Parent and Baby), Starting Solids, and Weaning

Partners and support people are welcome to attend all of our listed meetings. All children are welcome at our meetings; however, if anyone is contagiously ill, please stay home and get well!
